Pickering, from Bay Ridges and Amberlea through Dunbarton, Rosebank and Liverpool, is mostly newer suburban construction along the lake, with wide interlock driveways and paver patios built over the last couple of decades. Newer paver work still needs the same maintenance as anything older: the sand washes out over time no matter how new the stones are, and a yearly wash keeps it from getting away on you.

When the sand in your paver joints washes out, weeds move in, ants follow, and the stones start to shift.
